SGA prepares for upcoming elections

The Student Government Association is preparing for their upcoming elections. 

Election applications are due next Tuesday March 25. 

There will be an officer debate at 6 on Wednesday April 2. Students that attend will have an opportunity to win a free iPad mini. 

SGA elections will be on Topnet beginning on April 8 at 12:01 a.m. until April 9 at 11:59 p.m. The results will be released in the SGA Senate Chambers on April 9 at 11:59 p.m. 

In his judicial council report, Chief Justice Seth Church said there will be changes in election codes, allowing yards signs and sidewalk chalk.  

After its second reading, Bill-4-14-S passed. It allocates $2,575 to various organizations on campus. 

Resolution 1-14-S to adopt amendments to the constitution and bylaws is up for senate vote next week. 

In his report, executive vice president Mark Reeves talked about creating a policy that ensures all prayers at university functions are nonsectarian  

“It will be the most controversial part of university senate this month,” Reeves said. 

Grants and scholarship deadlines have been extended to Friday. 

The summer scholarship application is now online. The deadline is April 4. 

Administrative vice president Nicki Seay announced that the SGA budget will be fully updated by next week.
