A new place to eat is coming to WKU.

Steak ‘n Shake will be added to WKU’s dining collection starting next semester. The restaurant will be located in the food court of DSU, along with Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A. It is the first Steak ‘n Shake to be located on a university’s campus.

“As the first ever Steak ‘n Shake university location, Western Kentucky University is excited to welcome the brand to our campus and we believe that the new menu options provide even more variety for our students and staff,” said Gary Meszaros, assistant vice president of Auxiliary Services, in a press release.

The hours in which the restaurant will be open have not yet been finalized.

Steve Hoyng, resident district manager for Aramark, said the menu will be “downsized considerably” from normal Steak ‘n Shakes.

Hoyng said the menu will include burgers, hot dogs, five kinds of milkshakes and side items, such as fries.

Hoyng said Steak ‘n Shake will operate on a “counter-service-only model”, meaning that customers will place their order at the counter and then pick it up. There will not be seating.

Customers will be able to use meal plans to pay for their meals, as well as Mean Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars, Big Red Dollars, cash, credit and debit cards.
