WKU (20-13) lost a pair of road games to No. 8 Texas (34-4) over the weekend.

The Longhorns were the sixth ranked opponent WKU has faced this season. The Lady Toppers are 4-8 in those games.

Junior pitcher Emily Rousseau (11-5) pitched the majority of the first game and allowed nine hits while striking out three.

WKU failed to record a hit in the contest as Texas pitcher Blaire Luna (19-1) nearly had a perfect game.

Despite the lack of offense, the only difference on defense was a Texas grand slam to give them a 4-0 victory in game one.

The Lady Toppers recorded three hits but fell in the second matchup to the Longhorns, 3-1.

Senior pitcher Mallorie Sulaski started in the circle for WKU and gave up three hits in 2.2 innings of play. Rousseau finished the game and allowed just two hits.

WKU loaded the bases in the third inning but were unable to capitalize with just one out.

Texas tacked on three runs in the bottom of the third off two bases-loaded walks and a fielding error.

Senior catcher Karavin Dew scored WKU’s only run of the game off an error in the top of the fifth inning.

The Lady Toppers host a doubleheader with Samford on Wednesday at the WKU Softball Complex.
