Globetrotters to play at WKU

One of the first stops on the Harlem Globetrotters’ 2013 tour, “You Write the Rules,” will be WKU’s Diddle Arena on Monday, January 14th.

WKU Director of Campus & Community Events Jeff Younglove said that this is one of the many times the Globetrotters have made an appearance on campus, but it’s rare that they are returning two years in a row. He said they usually make a visit to Bowling Green every other year or so.

Younglove said past Globetrotters games have been well-attended. The arena usually isn’t full, but he said there’s a healthy turn-out.

“They like our venue, and they’ve usually done pretty well here,” Younglove said.

Monday’s game will also be different from past years, in that spectators get to make up their own rules of play. As part of the “You Write the Rules” show, fans can go online to vote in rules like “Two Ball Basketball” or “Double Points.”

“For the first time ever, fans — yes YOU — are in charge and get to call the shots,” the Harlem Globetrotters website states.

Ticket’s for Monday’s game are available at Ticketmaster.com with prices starting at 18 dollars. The game will start at 7 p.m.
