WKU has named its new assistant vice president for retention and student services.

Joelle Davis Carter, currently director of undergraduate programs in the school of business at The George Washington University, is set to fill the new position on Aug. 24.

Applications for the position were taken until February, after which a search committee narrowed down the pool of applicants to four possible candidates, finally choosing Carter.

Brian Meredith, vice president for enrollment management, said he looks forward to working with Carter.

“She brings a depth of experience in the areas of student retention, engagement and persistence,” he said. “I look forward to working with Dr. Carter to enhance our retention initiatives moving students closer to their degree goals and ultimately graduation.”
