John Carpenter has canceled his visit to WKU for the Western Kentucky Film Festival due to health issues.

Carpenter, a WKU alumnus, was going to come to campus and shoot a movie based off WKU student Andrew Yontz’s script with an all-student film crew. The question-and-answer panel will also be canceled.

On Tuesday night, WKU student Anna Shelton, who runs the group’s Facebook event, posted a notice about Carpenter’s cancellation of working with the student film.

It was announced by Film Club President Stefan Meadows on Wednesday night via the Western Kentucky Film Festival Facebook event that Carpenter’s question-and-answer panel will also be canceled.

The event will try to go on as otherwise planned, Meadows said.
