School spirit for homecoming 2012 will be joined with the American spirit as the university unveiled the homecoming theme of “Red, White, and WKU.”

Homecoming week will be from Oct. 15-21, with WKU’s football team facing Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 20.

Ginny Hensley, director of Alumni programming, said that every year the homecoming committee made up of about 30 faculty, staff and students vote for their favorite theme.

“Red, White, and WKU” recieved an overwhelming amount of votes, and was by far the one most people wanted, Hensley said.

Hensley said the theme worked well, as 2012 is an election year.

“It will be fun to bring out the WKU spirit,” she said, “but as well as our American spirit, too, that week.”
