WKU’s 2012 recruiting class will become official on Wednesday as high school and junior college prospects from across the nation sign binding letters of intent on National Signing Day.

Players will fax their letters of intent to the WKU coach’s offices throughout the school day, which the Herald will chronicle through a live blog starting at 7:30 a.m.

Singing Day was big for the Toppers in 2010 and 2011, as Head Coach Willie Taggart hauled in the Sun Belt Conference’s top-rated recruiting classes in both years, according to Rivals.com, which ranked the Toppers’ Class of 2012 second in the Sun Belt as of Tuesday afternoon behind Arkansas State.

After all recruits have signed, Taggart will convene a press conference at 2 p.m. in the Diddle Arena Media Room to discuss the 2012 class.

Then at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday the team will hold a Signing Day celebration at the Topper Club inside Smith Stadium.

Taggart will address the audience at the reception, which is open to the public.
