Freshman forward George Fant and freshman guard T.J. Price have been reinstated by the NCAA and will be cleared to play in Sunday’s Charleston Classic game, said Deborah Wilkins, chief of staff and general counsel.

Fant and Price will fly to Charleston on Saturday to be with the team, Wilkins said. WKU plays the winner of Georgia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth at 11 a.m.

The two players were suspended prior to WKU’s first game of the season agaisnt St. Joseph’s for violation of NCAA rules when they accepted money for a job before completing their work.

WKU appealed the NCAA’s ruling and claimed that Fant and Price were “misled” by their boss at what is still an undisclosed business in Bowling Green.

The ruling to reinstate Fant and Price was made late this afternoon, Wilkins said.

WKU Athletics released a statement Friday evening about the ruling.

“We are pleased that the NCAA has reviewed the initial ruling and amended its decision, allowing George and T.J. to return to the court earlier than we previously thought,” WKU said in the statement.
