The WKU volleyball team climbed to No. 29 in the new American Volleyball Coaches Association poll on Monday — the highest the team has ever been ranked.

They rose two spots after going 3-0 against Missouri, American and Villanova at the American University tournament in Washington D.C., last weekend.

WKU received 42 votes in the latest poll, 22 more than they received in last week’s poll.

Kentucky, who swept the Lady Toppers in three sets on Sept. 2 in Lexington, were one spot ahead of WKU with 46 votes.

The 13-1 Lady Toppers are on a 10-match winning streak and closed their big non-conference schedule in Washington. They come in to Sun Belt play as the only team in the conference receiving top 25 votes.

The only other ranked team on their schedule is Cincinnati, who received four votes on Monday. The two teams will meet in Cincinnati on Oct. 18.

The Lady Toppers will put their ranking on the line at home on Friday night, when they’ll face UALR at 7 p.m. at the start of their Sun Belt stretch.
