SGA holds talks about tobacco-free campus resolution

The first Student Government Association meeting of the semester took place Tuesday night after last week’s meeting was canceled.

A resolution regarding a tobacco ban on campus was originally scheduled to be looked at but was postponed until next Tuesday’s meeting so new members can have time to review the resolution before any decisions are made.

Because this was the first meeting of the semester, the executive officers took time to introduce themselves and update the senate on ongoing matters.

Speaker of the student senate Kaylee Egerer encouraged senators to be innovative on their committees.

“You’ve got to keep your wheels turning for new ideas,” she said.

Presidential appointments were also made at this meeting.

SGA President Billy Stephens appointed all positions for the executive branch, the judicial committee and committee heads. Egerer appointed the secretary of the senate. The positions were voted on using a blanket vote and unanimously passed.
