WKU’s 2011-2012 women’s basketball schedule was

released Wednesday, featuring 13 games against teams that made the

postseason one year ago and 12 games at Diddle Arena.

The Lady Toppers will open their regular season Nov.

12 in at home against Towson.

The team’s next nine games will be against teams that

participated in postseason play during the 2010-2011 season.

Those games include a Nov. 15 road contest against

Northwestern, a Nov. 20 home game against Duke and a Dec. 5 home

tilt against Louisiana Tech.

The Lady Toppers will face Samford and UAB in

Birmingham over Thanksgiving Break in the UAB Classic.

“We’re really excited about the schedule we were able

to put together this season,” Head Coach Mary Taylor Cowles said in

a release.  “We have some great competition coming to Diddle Arena,

as well as some tremendous road tests.

“Our young ladies will be challenged every night we

step on the floor, and I’m confident that this year’s group is

ready to meet that challenge with our mix of veteran leadership and

talented newcomers.”

WKU will begin Sun Belt Conference play Dec. 11 at

home against Florida International.

The Education Day, which made its debut last season

and brought more than 6,000 Warren County elementary students to a

game against South Alabama, will make a return this season.

This year’s Education Day game will be at 11 a.m. on

Jan. 4 against Louisiana-Lafayetter.

The Lady Toppers play three of their last four league

games at home, including their only regular season meeting with

2010-11 league champion Arkansas State.

In all, WKU will play 13 games in Diddle Arena.
