Athletics Director Ross Bjork announced Friday via his Twitter account that WKU will host Virginia Commonwealth on Nov. 23 as part of a two-year home-and-home agreement.

WKU then travels to VCU during the 2012-2013 season.

The Rams enter next season off a Final Four run and will be the first team to play in Diddle Arena after making the Final Four since 1986.

“We are very excited about the addition of VCU to our schedule for the next two seasons,” said Head Coach Ken McDonald. “Shaka Smart did an outstanding job with his team last season, and the Rams fit perfectly with our philosophy of scheduling the best opponents for our basketball team. We are happy to be able to bring a high-profile team to E.A. Diddle Arena, and I know our fans will enjoy seeing a former Sun Belt Conference opponent return to Bowling Green next season.”

Bjork credited assistant coach Lawrence Brenneman on Twitter for locking down the series with VCU.

WKU is 15-15 all time against the Rams, a former Sun Belt Conference member.

On the women’s side, Bjork tweeted that WKU will host Duke and Louisiana Tech next season. He said other games will be announced later.
