Couples enjoyed Valentine’s concert, which continues tonight

It was an “aww” inspiring night in Van Meter Hall Friday as couples attended Orchestra Kentucky’s performance “Endless Love,” a collection of classic love songs from the 1960s to the 1990s.

The combination of 24-piece classical orchestra, rock band and singers put together an impressive showing for Valentine’s Day said Bowling Green sophomore Emily Carter.

Carter, who attended with her boyfriend, has been to three Orchestra Kentucky performances in the past and enjoys the quality of the music.

“A lot of really good singers, everything is just really well done,” Carter said.

Emily Hockett, a junior from Thompson Station, Tenn., couldn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend because he is serving as an Air Force military police officer in Minot, N.D.

“My boyfriend is living a thousand miles away,” Hockett said. “I thought this would be a way to connect with him.”

Bowling Green sophomore Drew Mitchell has been to many Orchestra Kentucky songs in the past three years and recommends them to everyone.

“Great music and great local performers that aren’t necessarily in the music business but still love it,” Mitchell said.

“Endless Love” continues tonight in Van Meter Hall at 8 p.m., with tickets starting at $26.
