WKU softball said it wanted to leave Wednesday’s two losses to Eastern Kentucky behind, and it seems it did.

The Lady Toppers (7-4) picked up two more wins Saturday at the Red and Blue Classic at Ole Miss, making them 4-0 so far in the event.

WKU started the day with a 4-3 win over Louisiana Tech in 10 innings, then finished it with a 9-3 win over host Ole Miss.

The Lady Toppers broke a 3-3 tie in the 10th inning against Louisiana Tech with an RBI single by junior Amanda Walden that scored sophomore Ciara Garcia.

Walden finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs. The Lady Toppers had 10 hits in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Mallorie Sulaski (3-1) went the full 10 innings for WKU, striking out five.

Against Ole Miss, it was freshman Amanda Thomas’ bat that sparked the Lady Toppers, as Thomas belted a three-run homer — the first of her career.

The Rebels led 2-1 after four innings, but WKU scored five runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh.

Sophomore Kim Wagner (3-2) allowed six hits and two earned runs in seven innings.

Freshman Kelsie Mattox also had a solid game two, finishing 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

The Lady Toppers finish their play in Mississippi at 9 a.m. Sunday, when they play Louisiana Tech for the second time.
