Head Coach Travis Hudson announced this week that Heather Boyan, a middle hitter from Munster, Ind., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for WKU.

Boyan signed Nov. 10 and will join the Lady Toppers for the 2011 season.

“When I made my first visit to Western Kentucky University, I knew it was the perfect fit for me,” Boyan said. “They play great, competitive volleyball, and the whole team is like a family.”

Boyan was a three-year starter on her Munster High School team, recording 410 kills along with 101 digs and 88 aces. She served as team captain and was named most valuable player during her senior year. In addition, she has also received first team all-conference, academic all-conference and academic all-state honorable mention honors.

“We are extremely excited to add Heather to our roster,” Hudson said. “We’ve had a long tradition of excellent middle hitters here, and with the athleticism and explosiveness that she posses, I think she will fit that mold very, very well moving forward.”

Boyan also led her team to their third straight Sectional Championship this season.
