Head Coach Mary Taylor Cowles announced today that senior point guard Amy McNear will miss WKU’s first three games of the season due to an undisclosed violation of team rules.

A WKU Athletic Media Relations statement said Cowles, assistant coaches and players have declined to comment any further on the situation.

In addition to missing tonight’s season opener at Louisiana Tech, McNear is out for the Lay Toppers’ home opener on Thursday against Northwestern as well as Sunday’s game at Duke.

McNear was a preseason All-Sun Belt selection and averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game last season.
