WKU volleyball sweeps Arkansas-Little Rock, stays perfect in SBC

Aided by 53 digs and 11 blocks in the three sets, the WKU volleyball team swept Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday to stay perfect in Sun Belt Conference play.

The WKU volleyball team completed an undefeated opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday, extending its winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-12) victory at Arkansas-Little Rock.

The Lady Toppers (13-4, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) have not dropped a set during their current win streak. They limited the Trojans (2-11, 0-2) to a .029 hitting percentage and only 23 kills in the match.

Senior Emily Teegarden led the Lady Topper offense with 10 kills and a team-high .444 hitting percentage.On defense, WKU totaled 53 digs and 11 blocks in the three sets.

The Lady Toppers fought through eight ties and five lead changes early in the first set before pulling away to a 25-19 win. After trailing 12-10 in the second, the WKU won 12 of the next 14 points and cruised to a 25-17 win.

The Lady Toppers finished the decisive third set in a performance that saw WKU lead almost from start to finish.

WKU next hosts Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. Friday and then Florida International on Saturday.
