Notes from Tuesday’s SGA Meeting

At tonight’s Student Government Association meeting:

-President Colton Jessie brought up a review of this summer’s activities, including attending the Kentucky Leadership Academy and hosting a dinner for WKU’s international students.

-Executive Vice President Kendrick Bryan said he will know the status of an off-campus database next week. He is also in talks with Parking and Transportation to get a bench for the bus stop at South Campus.

-Jessie’s presidential appointments for the Executive Cabinet, Judicial Council, and Senate committee heads were approved by the Senate. These committee chairs were then sworn in to each of their offices.

-The budget for the year proposed by Administrative Vice President Wade Pierce was also approved by the Senate. Due to shortage of scholarship money last year, the budget for scholarships this year rose from $12,000 to $20,000. To accommodate this change, general Senate funding dropped from $20,000 to $12,000.

-The president of WKU’s American Marketing Association, Currie Martin, spoke to the Senate about trying to market SGA. He said he feels that not enough people know what the SGA does and he wants to help spread the word about the organization.

-Lastly, Jessie mentioned that President Gary Ransdell has invited the SGA to a cookout at his house on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
