WKU Softball head coach Amy Tudor announced the program’s first addition to its 2022 roster, Bailey Curry from the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, on Friday. Curry will be eligible to play immediately.

“We are excited to add Bailey to our team,” Tudor said in a press release. “She has played and succeeded at a very high level. She has a great work ethic and will bring a big bat to our offense.”

The Frankfort, Kentucky native began her collegiate career at Toledo and was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year in 2018. She led the Rockets in batting average (.382), hits (64), home runs (14), RBI (46), walks (34), slugging percentage (.633) and on-base percentage (.465) that season.

Curry then played the next three years of her career at Louisiana (2019-2021), batting .298 in 91 starts across 130 games played and compiling slugging and on-base percentages of .508 and .419 respectively.

Curry played as both a first baseman and a designated player during her time at Louisiana. Her bat will help fill the power gap left in the Hilltoppers’ lineup after the departure of redshirt senior Paige Carter due to the end of her eligibility.
