The WKU Women’s Golf team completed an impressive opening round at the USA Intercollegiate on Saturday.

The Lady Toppers shot 5-over 293, leaving them tied for sixth place with South Alabama and Arkansas State, only three shots behind Troy in fifth place.

The team was led by its new senior transfer, Kenlie Barrett, who shot 1-under at the par-72, 6,002-yard RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossings Course. She is currently tied for 10th place and is just two shots away from the top five at her first tournament competing for WKU.

Returning sophmore, Rachel Rich, finished her round 2-over 74 and is tied for 32nd place. She is only one stroke out of the top 25. Rich closed out her round Saturday with two birdies and a par.

Other notable scores from the team included a 4-over 76 from both junior Sarah Arnold and freshman Catie Craig.

WKU sent two athletes to the tournament to compete as individuals: sophomore Addie Westbrook, who shot a 3-over 75, and fifth-year Olivia Reed, who shot a 5-over 77. The Lady Toppers have two more days left in this tournament and are set to play their second round at 8 a.m. CT Sunday morning. Live scoring for the event can be found here.
