Two WKU Women’s Golf student-athletes finished in the top 15 after the final round of play in the USA Intercollegiate on Monday. Senior Kenlie Barrett tied for eighth, her first time competing for WKU, and fifth year student-athlete Olivia Reed tied for 15th place.

“I’m really proud of the way this group bounced back today,” head coach Adam Gary said in a press release. “I’m also very proud of Kenlie and her top-10 finish. It was a great start for her in a WKU uniform. We learned a lot this weekend as a team, and we know what we need to work on moving forward.”

Barrett, a transfer from Sam Houston State, turned in a 2-under 70 on the third day of play at the par-72, 6,002-yard RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossings Course. Barrett collected a dozen birdies over the course of the weekend and became the first Lady Topper since Mary Joiner to finish a regular-season event under-par.

Junior Sarah Arnold turned in a 2-under 70 of her own on the last day of competition. Her four Monday birdies boosted her 22 places up the leaderboard and she finished tied for 40th.

Reed shot a 1-under 71 on Monday to finish even-par on the tournament. Her final result of 15th as an individual competitor was her best finish since tying for 14th at the 2020 USA Intercollegiate.

WKU sophomore Rachel Rich shot a 2-over 74 and freshman Catie Craig contributed a 4-over 76 to round out the day. Rich and Craig came home tied for 59th and tied for 75th, respectively.

Freshman Faith Martin, competing in her first-ever collegiate event as a Hilltopper, shot a 7-over 79. Sophomore Addie Westbrook shot a new career-low 54-hole score of 9-over 225, leading her to her best-ever finish (t-55th).

The Lady Toppers finished 10th as a unit and shot a 2-over 290 in the final round. WKU’s total 54-hole score was a 21-over 885, putting the Lady Toppers above three C-USA rivals: UAB, Southern Miss and UTEP.

The Lady Toppers will return to action at the Lady Paladin Collegiate hosted by Furman on Sept. 24-26.
