The WKU Food Group has been welcoming local businesses to the hill through their Local Restaurant Row, which is located in front of the Colonnades and the Fine Arts Center from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Local Restaurant Row consists of food trucks and booths from local businesses in Bowling Green, with each vendor having value meal and meal plan dollar options to make dining convenient for students.

I was able to swing by the local restaurant row and check out all that they had to offer. Here are some of the things that made it an incredible experience.

#4 – The Food

The food is probably the main thing that students at WKU go to the local restaurant row for, and after trying it, I would have to say that it was good.

The first thing I got when I went to the local restaurant row for the first time was the homemade chili hotdog from the Stoneybrooke truck. After I got my food and took the first bite of the hotdog, I knew the rest would be delicious. In fact, it was. The homemade chili was a nice touch, it had a little spice to it but that extra kick is what added all the flavor.

#3 – The Employees

One of the best things about my experience with the local restaurant row was the workers there.

I could tell on the days that I went that they were all excited and enthusiastic.  I knew they were so happy to be there and serve everyone delicious food.

All the workers I came in contact with and talked to were really nice and I’m glad I got to interact with them. They were also all hard at work at each food truck and booth they were set up at.

Even when it was busy, each worker was on top of things and their performance was incredible.

#2 – The Students

One of the things I witnessed at the local restaurant row was how energetic and happy the WKU students were.

It was great to see all the students come together to enjoy their free time by getting food and eating with each other.

Without the students, or without them being involved, it wouldn’t be an exciting college campus at all. However, the students at the local restaurant row really showed what student life is all about by eating good food and supporting local businesses.

#1 – The Atmosphere

The atmosphere really sums it all up.

It wasn’t a gloomy, negative atmosphere. Far from it. I can’t name it in one word so I’ll name many words: exciting, fun, happy, jovial, friendly, welcoming, delightful, and well you get the point.

The environment there was positive and fun-filled. All the times I have gone, I didn’t see or hear anything negative, it was just people there having the time of their lives.  It was an atmosphere you would want to be in every day.

All of these things were what made the experiences I’ve had with local restaurant row amazing. I highly recommend stopping by sometime soon because it is 100% worth it!
