WKU Volleyball defeats Liberty in back-to-back contests

WKU Volleyball shut out the Liberty University Flmaes in their two-game series against Liberty University. WKU now has a 14-4 season record. Liberty hosted WKU in Lynchburg, Virginia on Oct. 3-4. 

In the first game, WKU swept the Eagles 3-0.

As a team, the Hilltoppers had a three-set hitting percentage of .430. WKU also posted ten blocks compared to Liberty’s three.

Fifth year outside hitter Paige Briggs led the team in kills with 16 with junior outside hitter Kaylee Cox at 15. Redshirt Sophomore setter Callie Bauer also helped hoist WKU to victory with 30 assists.

In the second match-up, Liberty put up more of a fight, but ultimately WKU won 3-2.

WKU finished the game with an average hitting percentage of .294. They totaled 54 kills, 17 blocks and 51 assists.

Once again, Briggs and Bauer led the team. Briggs posted 18 kills with Bauer putting up 40 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Abby Schafer also had a strong game, gathering 19 digs for the Hilltoppers.

WKU will return to E.A. Diddle Arena Oct. 7 at 12p.m. CST to face Jacksonville State University.
