Briggs headlines WKU’s AVCA honors

Three Hilltopper Volleyball players were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday, headlined by fifth year senior Paige Briggs. 

Briggs, who was named C-USA player of the year on Nov. 16, was named AVCA South Region Player of the Year. Briggs ended her season with 457 kills and averaged 2.39 digs per set throughout the 2023 campaign. She becomes the sixth Hilltopper to win the award in the last seven years. 

Junior outside hitter Kaylee Cox and redshirt sophomore setter Callie Bauer were also recognized by the AVCA. Cox joined Briggs as an All-Region member following her impressive 2023 season. The Missouri transfer hit .318 on the year and averaged 3.39 kills per set and 3.92 points per set. 

Bauer was given All-Region honorable mention. During her 2023 campaign, Bauer led Conference USA with 1,246 total assists and led C-USA in hitting as a setter with a .375 hitting percentage.
