WKU Women’s Basketball will continue their two-game road series Saturday as they travel to take on the New Mexico State Aggies in search of their seventh win in a row.
The Lady Toppers have a plethora of scoring pieces with four players averaging double figures. Senior guard Alexis Mead leads the way with 13.4 points a night.
Not only can the Lady Toppers rely on different players to score, but three players average more than two steals a night spearheaded by junior guard Josie Gilvin with 2.7 steals. As a team, the Lady Toppers average 12.1 steals a game.
“They (opponents) are about tired of seeing Josie Gilvin, she is up there guarding the pants off of anybody who had the ball,” Head Coach Greg Collins said.
NMSU finds its efficiency from graduate student Molly Kaiser, averaging 21.7 points a game, along with senior forward Fanta Gassama averaging 10.2 points and eight rebounds.
“The focal point will be how well Molly is shooting the ball, she is just such an efficient scorer in such a variety of ways,” Collins said.
It will be a battle on the glass as the Lady Toppers average just three more rebounds a game than NMSU.
The game is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 on ESPN+.
