WKU Women’s Basketball will look to advance to the Conference USA tournament semifinals Thursday with a win over the FIU Panthers.
The Lady Toppers are the No. 3 seed in the CUSA and will face the winner of Liberty and UTEP on Friday night if they win.
“I think it comes down to who’s the best prepared, who’s playing the best together, and who doesn’t flinch,” Head Coach Greg Collins said about this year’s CUSA tournament during his press conference on March 4. “Who will be the one to stay the course and grind those possessions during games.”
The Lady Toppers are coming off a loss at Liberty last weekend. Junior guard Josie Gilvin dominated, totaling a career-high 31 points in the game.
Senior guard Alexis Mead has dominated FIU this season, averaging 14 points, six assists, and four rebounds in two games against the Panthers.
FIU beat the Lady Toppers earlier this season at Diddle Arena on Jan. 4, but the WKU dominated the Panthers on the road on March 6, winning by 35.
The Panthers are the No. 6 seed in the conference and are coming off a throttling from Middle Tennessee State, losing 65-44.
Senior forward Isnelle Natabou leads FIU, averaging 14 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting nearly 68% on the season. Natabou scored 10 points against the Hilltoppers twice this season.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
