WKU Softball will take its three-game losing streak into its first home conference series against Liberty March 14 and 16.
In its conference-opening series, WKU went 1-2 at Sam Houston State. The Hilltoppers also fell to Ole Miss Tuesday in the team’s first-midweek game of the season.
Sophomore infielder Maci Masters was the Hilltopper MVP of the Ole Miss game. She hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. She leads WKU in batting average (.333), home runs (five) and RBIs (16).
WKU last faced Liberty in the 2024 Conference USA championship game. The Hilltoppers suffered a devastating loss on a walk-off double in the ninth inning. The No. 24 ranked Flames are 21-4 on the season.
Key Liberty players include senior outfielder Rachel Roupe and senior outfielder KK Madrey. Roupe leads CUSA in doubles with 10. She’s ranked second in RBIs with 31 and fifth in slugging percentage with .775 in the conference.
Madrey leads CUSA in stolen bases with 23. She’s also ranked third in the conference in batting average with .449.
Potential inclement weather on Saturday changed this weekend’s original schedule. Instead of one game a day Friday through Sunday, the teams will compete in a doubleheader Friday and one game Sunday.
The first pitch of the series is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 14.
