Extreme weather Friday, May 16, caused critical failure to the HVAC system in Grise Hall, resulting in the building’s inability to properly cool interior spaces, Chief Facilities Officer Bryan Russell said in an email to the Herald on Thursday, May 22.
Russell said the Planning, Design and Construction and Department of Facilities Management teams are actively working to implement a temporary and permanent solution.
Gordon Ford College of Business has given its faculty and staff the option to work remote until the HVAC system has been restored.
“We expect to have a confirmed plan and timeline that will be communicated to all affected parties by the end of the week,” Russell said in an email to the Herald.
Faculty and staff from Cherry Hall are planning to move to Grise Hall for the 2025-2026 school year due to upcoming renovation plans for Cherry Hall.
Russell said the planning and coordination of the transition has been a collaborative effort between Gordon Ford College of Business and Potter College of Arts & Letters, and that the transition will begin in mid to late July.
