WKU Soccer bounced back following their 2-0 loss to the Bobcats with a 10-0 win over the University of Rio Grande in Ohio, pressing high, pushing forward and pinning Rio Grande to their own half in a 10-0 win over the Redstorm.
The Hilltoppers, who managed only two shots on goal the last time they took the pitch, put six goals behind the Redstorm in the first half and finished the game with 22 shots, 14 on target for 10 goals, the second highest mark in program history.Â
Senior Camryn Davis set the tone with a first-half hat trick, including a goal in the opening minute. Junior Georgia Liapis carried the attack after the break, scoring three of her own on five shots.Â
That offensive surge came from sharp play in the final third, quick one touch passing, and aggressive runs towards goal, turning pressure into chances.Â
Defensively, WKU locked down the Redstorm attack, holding Rio Grande without a shot until the 77th minute, their only attempt across 90 minutes.
WKU Soccer returns to action in their home opener at the WKU Soccer Complex Thursday Aug. 21 against Jackson State. Kick off set for 5 p.m.
