WKU is expanding its use of the Suitable app across campus to give students an efficient way to track co-curricular involvement.

The free-to-download app will allow students to record and showcase campus engagement outside of class. Users can build a portfolio full of events, workshops, service projects, career development experiences and leadership sessions.

The app features personal scorecards that allow students to showcase badges of achievement, which can be shared on platforms like LinkedIn or included in resumes and job applications.

Cierra Waller, associate director for student success, said the Suitable app has already been in effect on campus for the past five years. 

“Previously, units invested in their own dashboards, with Gordon Ford College of Business being the earliest adopters, followed by Honors, CHHS, Student Activities, and Student Success,” Waller said. “With more units showing interest, the Provost’s Office pursued the enterprise model to enable cross-campus collaboration.”

The enterprise model of the app will unlock full benefits on campus and allow students to integrate the Suitable app with other platforms like Blackboard and Handshake.

Waller said using the app campus-wide will ensure all students benefit regardless of their career path.

April McCauley, the Interim Suitable Transition Coordinator, is in charge of assisting each department in integrating and training staff, faculty and students to use the app. She said this year’s focus is to prompt a “soft rollout” for anyone interested in using the program.

“We are using this year to gather feedback, develop standards and learn how to maximize the platform for our campus community,” McCauley said, “A full, coordinated rollout is expected in fall 2026.”

Waller said the Suitable app will not replace the academic functions that students use on Blackboard.
