WKU Football looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season against the Nevada Wolfpack at Houchens-Smith Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 18, with kickoff at 6 p.m.
A 45-21 loss at the hands of Toledo dropped the Hilltoppers to 2-1 (1-0 CUSA) on the season.
Quarterback Maverick McIvor’s 235 passing yards weren’t enough to overcome two early Hilltopper turnovers.
The Hilltopper rushing attack went for just 58 yards on the ground, with running back Marvis Parrish leading the way with 22 yards.
Punter Cole Maynard enters week four leading the nation in punting average with 51.62 yards per punt. Maynard was named to the Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List.
“I try to be detail-focused,” Maynard said. “That’s the biggest thing. I’m not trying to chase the highest or furthest ball. Consistently paying attention to the details.”
The Wolfpack is looking to rebound after a loss to Middle Tennessee State 14-13 last weekend. The loss brought their record to 1-2 so far this season.
The Hilltopper offense needs to be wary of Junior linebacker Dylan Labarbera, who has totaled 21 tackles and 2 sacks on the season so far.
Wide Receiver Marcus Bellon leads the offense with 153 receiving yards and a touchdown.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
“It’s great to be back and playing at home, and our guys are looking forward to it,” Head Coach Tyson Helton said. “Nevada is a gritty football team. We’ve had two weeks to prepare, and hopefully we can put it all together.”
The Parent and Family Weekend game will be streamed on ESPN+, kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
