WKU Volleyball was swept by the 6th-ranked Louisville Cardinals 3-0 Monday night.
The Hilltoppers were short-handed, without kills leader, freshman outside hitter Kaira Knox and junior middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele.
The Hilltoppers were led by sophomore outside hitter Faith Young, finishing with nine kills.
Set One
WKU dropped set one 25-15. It was a slow start for the Hilltoppers, as they struggled to get their offense going. WKU looked to get back into the set, but the defense from the Cardinals was too much. A block for Louisville ended the set.
Set Two
WKU drops set two 25-17. The set began with a back-and-forth start, with neither team able to gain full momentum. After Louisville took an 18-13 lead, the Hilltoppers answered, going on a 3-0 run. Despite the run, the Cardinals’ swings could not be stopped. A kill from freshman opposite hitter Kalyssa Blackshear put the set away.
Set Three
WKU fell 25-20 in set three. The Hilltoppers could not find an answer to stop the offense of the Cardinals. WKU rallied, closing the gap to a 23-20 Louisville lead. However, a service ace put the set and match away.
