Game One
WKU took set one 25-17. It was back-and-forth early, until multiple runs of 5-0 and 3-0 gave the Hilltoppers a 13-6 lead. Louisiana Tech looked to get back into it. However, WKU had the answers, taking advantage of five Bulldog attack errors to take the set.
WKU took set two 25-11. The Hilltoppers came out hot with a quick 15-5 lead. WKU did not look back, tying their season low in points allowed in a set. WKU did not have a single attack error, hitting 14 for 14. A bad set from Louisiana Tech gave the Hilltoppers the set.
WKU took set three 26-24. The Bulldogs were able to regroup, leading for much of the set. Louisiana Tech took a late 22-20 lead, looking to extend the game. However, the block from WKU tied up the set, trading points back and forth until the 24-24 mark. A block from freshman Sonja Laaksonen and Sophomore Faith Young gave the set and match to the Hilltoppers.
Game Two
WKU took set one 25-12. The Hilltoppers came out hot, jumping out to a 5-1 lead and did not look back. Louisiana Tech could not find its footing, finishing the set with nine attack errors. A block from WKU, put the set away.
WKU took set two 25-11. WKU did not take its foot off the gas, having an answer for every Bulldog attack. The Hilltoppers hit .613 on the set, not committing a single attack error. Backed by stellar defense, Laaksonen put the set away with a kill.
WKU took set three 25-19. Much like in game one, Louisiana Tech looked to extend the game, keeping it close. The Hilltoppers jumped out to a big 17-8 lead, but the Bulldogs were able to answer. Louisiana Tech closed the gap to four, 20-16 late, taking advantage of holes in the Hilltoppers’ block. WKU was able to regain momentum from its swings and closed the door on the match. A kill put the set and match away for the Hilltoppers.
The Hilltoppers return to Diddle Arena Oct. 17 at 6:00 p.m. to take on the Sam Houston Bearkats, broadcast on ESPN+.
