As WKU Soccer turns its attention to the Conference USA tournament, four players and Head Coach Jason Neidell took home honors from the conference.
Junior midfielder Georgia Liapis was awarded CUSA Midfielder of the Year after leading the team in goals all season. Liapis scored nine goals throughout the season, including five during conference play.
The junior gave the game-winning assist against Missouri State, which would prove a crucial game as WKU claimed first place over Liberty on a tiebreaker for results against common opponents. Liapis was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week twice, Sept. 23 and Oct. 27.
Freshman forward Makenna Egan is the first Hilltopper in program history to be named CUSA Freshman of the Year. She also earned spots on the All-CUSA Second Team and All-Freshman team. Egan scored five goals in the season, tied for the most by a freshman in CUSA.
The freshman also tallied four assists on the season, tied for the most by a freshman in the conference. Egan started in 14 games for the Hilltoppers and played 90 minutes in two games, giving her the most minutes out of freshmen in CUSA.
Sophomore defender Abby Wiedermann was named to the All-Conference First team after starting in the Hilltoppers’ back line in 15 games. Wiedermann played all 90 minutes in 14 games and was a major contributor to the Hilltoppers’ seven clean sheets and the lowest goals allowed average, 0.813 in CUSA. Wiedermann was named CUSA Defender of the week twice, Aug. 27 and Oct. 7.
Redshirt goalkeeper Maddie Davis was named to the All-Conference Second team after having the lowest goals allowed average in the conference, 0.800. Davis also holds a 0.831 save percentage, the highest in the conference.
Davis started every conference game for the Hilltoppers, earning four shutouts in conference play. The redshirt senior earned CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 7.
Head Coach Jason Neidell was named CUSA Coach of the Year after leading the Hilltoppers to their best conference record in program history, 6-0-2, and the 2025 CUSA Regular Season Championship.
After being picked ninth in the preseason poll, Neidell guided WKU to a remarkable turnaround from last year’s 3-8-5 campaign. The Hilltoppers led the league in scoring defense, 0.813, and ranked second in scoring average, 1.813.
The Hilltoppers were the only CUSA team to go undefeated on the road (4-0), their best conference road record since joining the league in 2014. This is Neidell’s fourth overall Coach of the Year honor and his second in Conference USA, previously earning the award in 2016.
WKU Soccer will begin Conference USA tournament play Sunday, Nov. 2, as they play Missouri State in the first round. Kick off set for 3:30 p.m. CT.
