WKU Football heads to Baton Rouge to take on LSU in their toughest test of the season at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 22.
The Hilltoppers are on fire with a three-game winning streak, all against CUSA opponents. The most recent win against Middle Tennessee moved the Hilltoppers to 8-2, 6-1 CUSA, on the season.
Freshman quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. had another impressive performance, throwing for 371 yards and three touchdowns, with a rushing touchdown.
The Hilltopper offense put up a season-high 642 yards, with 42 points, their most in CUSA play. The win brought the Hilltoppers to second place in the conference, behind Jacksonville State.
Redshirt senior Marshall Jackson was named Conference USA Offensive Lineman of the Week.
The LSU Tigers soared to a 4-0 start this season, only to drop four of their next five games. The Tigers defeated Arkansas 23-22 last week after the Razorbacks missed a field goal late in the contest. The win moved them to 6-4, 3-4 SEC, on the season.
Senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been solid this season, passing for 1,927 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions.
“Their skill players are probably one of the best groups we’ve seen all year, and the country,” Co-Defensive Coordinator Da’von Brown said. “We’ve got to go out there and tackle well, because those guys are really good in space.”
The last Hilltopper win against a power five opponent came in a decisive 45-19 victory on the road against Arkansas on Nov. 9, 2019. The win came in Head Coach Tyson Helton’s first season with the Hilltoppers.
“Really excited to get to play an excellent football team in LSU, and to play in a great stadium,” Head Coach Tyson Helton said. “We’re looking forward to it. We’ll get ready this week and see if we can get a big win.”
Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. and will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
