A second half collapse saw WKU men’s basketball fall to the South Florida Bulls 97-91 in overtime.
USF outscored the Hilltoppers in the second half 44-34 on their way to the victory.
WKU led by 17 with just 1:30 in the half. USF took all of the momentum, going on a 7-0 run to close the half down 50-40. USF guard Wes Enis hit a three at the buzzer.
WKU could not find their momentum out of halftime, shooting 11-28 in the second half. Redshirt sophomore guard Teagan Moore did all he could for the Hilltoppers, scoring 18 of the team’s 34 in the half.
A missed contested three from WKU senior guard Cam Haffner with 25 seconds left, sent the game to overtime 84-84.
The Bulls had all the momentum going into overtime, and did not let up. WKU could not find the same success as they did in the first half, being outscored 13-7.
Moore did all he could, leading the Hilltoppers with a career-high 27 points.
WKU had all of the momentum in the first half. USF could not figure out a way to stop the Hilltoppers, as they got whatever they wanted. WKU shot 18-32 from the floor in the half.
WKU returns to the floor tomorrow, to play the loser of Wichita State or Colorado State on ESPN U.
