Men’s Basketball’s poor shooting performance against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks Tuesday night saw the Hilltoppers fall 78-67.
The Hilltoppers shot a season low 30% from the floor. In the first half, WKU could get nothing to fall, shooting 20% from the field and 15% from three.
Despite the sluggish first half start, WKU found its footing shooting 40% from the floor in the second half. The second half surge was led by redshirt sophomore guard Teagan Moore and freshman guard Armelo Boone.
The duo combined for 29 of the Hilltoppers 45 second half points after combining for six in the first half.
Jacksonville State maintained control throughout the game, scoring nearly at will with 55% shooting from the field on the game.
The Gamecocks shot 54% from the field in the first half, taking a 38-22 lead at halftime.
WKUs three leading scorers, Moore, Boone and senior forward Grant Newell,combined for 10 points in the first half, a season low.
The Hilltoppers look to bounce back Friday, Jan. 2 against Sam Houston.
