WKU Women’s Basketball finishes its five-game away slate Sunday afternoon at Kennesaw after dropping its conference-opener to Jacksonville State Friday night.
The Lady Toppers fell 75-48 to the Gamecocks to start the Conference USA schedule, dropping to 4-8 on the season and 0-1 in CUSA. JSU shot a scorching 85% from the 3-point line in the third quarter, an obstacle that WKU could not overcome. Despite their size advantage, the Lady Toppers also lost the rebounding battle 39-26 against the Gamecocks.
Graduate forward Caleigh-Rose West led the way for WKU in scoring (10) and rebounding (five) against JSU. Sophomore forward Torri James remains as the Lady Toppers’ overall leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 9.3 points and 4.9 boards per game.
Kennesaw State dropped its conference-opener to Middle Tennessee State 60-47 Friday night. The Owls are now 7-5 overall and 0-1 in CUSA.
Keyarah Berry leads KSU in points (14.5) and steals (2.3) per game. Following closely behind is Shania Nichols, who averages 10.4 points and a team-high two 3-pointers per game.
KSU’s offense sits just atop WKU’s in conference rankings. The Owls’ 65.8 points per game earned them the No. 9-ranked CUSA offense, followed by the Lady Toppers’ 57.4 points per game in the 10th spot.
WKU leads the all-time series against KSU 2-0. The Lady Toppers most recently defeated the Owls 78-57 in Feb. 2025 in Diddle Arena.
