A 31-point third quarter from Kennesaw State was too much for WKU Women’s Basketball, falling 78-64 on the road.
Senior forward Zsofia Telegdy scored a season-high 20 points, with six rebounds in the loss. Sophomore forward Torri James and junior forward Tatum Boettjer each scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, the Lady Toppers found success offensively, shooting 45% from the field and a scorching 53% from three-point range.
However, for the second straight game, the Lady Toppers were outscored in the paint—this time by 12—and lost the rebounding battle 31-21.
The Lady Toppers started strong, holding a 14-12 lead after the first quarter and leading by as much as seven points. However, a 12-4 run by the Owls at the end of the second quarter set the stage for Kennesaw State’s dominant third period.
That third quarter proved decisive, as the Lady Toppers were outscored 31-19—marking the second consecutive game in which they faced a double-digit deficit in the third period.
This is the third straight loss for the Lady Toppers, bringing their record to 4-9 (0-2 CUSA) on the season.
The Lady Toppers will look to rebound at Diddle Arena against New Mexico State on Jan. 8. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
