WKU Women’s Basketball returns to Diddle Arena for the first time in over a month to face New Mexico State Thursday night, kicking off its second week of Conference USA play.
The Lady Toppers have accumulated a losing streak of three after losses to Jacksonville State (75-48) and Kennesaw State (78-64) in the conference-opening week. WKU is now 4-9 overall (0-2 CUSA) and in last place in the CUSA standings.
Senior forward Zsofia Telegdy posted a season-high 20 points against the KSU Owls, upgrading her to the Lady Toppers’ leading scorer with 9.7 points per game. She is also tied with sophomore forward Torri James for WKU’s leading rebounder, both averaging 4.8 boards per game.
New Mexico State sits at 5-9 on the season (1-1 CUSA) and ranks eighth in CUSA. The Aggies dropped their conference opener to Liberty 67-62 Friday evening before bouncing back with a 64-57 overtime victory against Delaware Sunday afternoon.
Lucía Yenes leads NMSU with 4.2 rebounds and a team-high 13.7 points per game in her team-high 29.6 minutes per game. She ranks eighth among all of CUSA in scoring.
WKU leads the all-time series over NMSU 7-4. The Lady Toppers last defeated the Aggies 85-68 in March of last season.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.
