WKU Women’s Basketball will host the University of Texas at El Paso Saturday afternoon after falling just short against New Mexico State at home Thursday night.
After falling 70-67 short against New Mexico State at home Thursday night, the Lady Toppers’ extended their losing streak to four and dropped to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in Conference USA.
Sophomore guard Salma Khedr led WKU in scoring against NMSU with 18. Senior forward Zsofia Telegdy and sophomore forward Torri James are tied for WKU’s leading scorer with 9.7 points per game. The duo is also tied for the leading rebounder, both averaging 4.6 rebounds per game.
UTEP is coming off an 86-43 loss to Middle Tennessee State Thursday night. The defeat dropped the Miners to 9-5 on the season and 1-2 in CUSA.
Sophomore forward Mary Moses Amaniyo posted her seventh double-double of the season against MTSU, leading UTEP in points (14) and rebounds (10). Graduate guard Ivane Tensaie landed the Miners’ leading scorer position, averaging 11.1 points per game.
The Lady Toppers struggled on the boards against the Aggies, getting outrebounded 41-15, only three of which were offensive. The Miners lead CUSA in rebounding, averaging 43.6 total and 17.3 offensive boards per game.
WKU holds a 9-4 overall record against UTEP. The Lady Toppers’ last defeated the Miners 81-58 in Feb. 2025.
