A dreadful 29% shooting performance from WKU Men’s Basketball set the stage for an 81-65 blowout loss to Kennesaw State at Diddle Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Hilltoppers struggled from the floor throughout the game, shooting just 30% from three-point territory and 65% from the free-throw line.
Senior guard Ryan Myers was the leading scorer for the Hilltoppers with 16 points. Sophomore guard Teagan Moore struggled, scoring just nine points on 4-10 shooting. The performance marked just the third time Moore scored less than 10 points in a game this season.
Kennesaw State sophomore guard RJ Johnson could not be stopped, totaling 31 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Hilltoppers competed with Kennesaw State in the first half, leading 27-26 with just under six minutes remaining. The Owls responded with a 10-0 run to take control, leading 43-34 after one quarter of action.
WKU responded with a 10-0 run to start the second half, taking a 44-43 lead with 16 minutes remaining. The Owls outscored the Hilltoppers 38-21 for the remainder of the game, powered by leading WKU by over 20 points through two scoring runs.
The Hilltoppers take on Liberty to conclude their three-game homestand at Diddle Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game can be streamed on ESPN+.
