WKU Women’s Basketball continues its two-game homestand Friday night against Delaware following a close-call loss at the hands of Liberty Thursday evening.
The Lady Toppers fell to the Liberty Lady Flames 55-53. WKU started slow on both sides of the floor. A lively third quarter kept hopes of victory alive, but the Lady Toppers failed to execute in the last minute of the game. The loss keeps WKU in the lowest Conference USA ranking at 5-13 overall (1-6 CUSA).
Sophomore guard Salma Khedr continues to be offensively effective in conference play, recording 15 or more points in four of the Lady Toppers’ seven CUSA contests. Her team-high 18 points against Liberty moved her into WKU’s leading scorer position, averaging 9.9 points per game.
Senior forward Zsofia Telegdy recorded the Lady Toppers’ only other double-digit performance against the Lady Flames, posting a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She leads WKU on the boards, averaging 4.9 rebounds per game.
Delaware snapped Middle Tennessee State’s 39-game home conference winning streak in its 61-48 road win Thursday night. The Blue Hens rank 10th in CUSA with an 8-10 (2-4 CUSA) record.
Junior center Ande’a Cherisier provides consistent output for Delaware across multiple areas. In CUSA, she ranks ninth in scoring (13.1 points per game), 10th in rebounding (7.6 boards per game) and fourth in field-goal percentage (.467).
The Blue Hens lead the conference in opponent 3-point field-goal percentage, holding their competitors to .269 from beyond the arc.
The 2025-26 season marks Delaware’s first season in CUSA, so the teams have never competed before.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday night in Diddle Arena.
