WKU Head Coach Hank Plona gave updates on the status of injured Hilltoppers at his Monday press conference.
WKU has suffered from the injury bug, with five players missing time at some point in the season. The Hilltoppers are in the middle of a full week off, with hopes to be healthier for Saturday’s game against rival MTSU.
WKU Men’s Basketball sits at 13-11 (6-7 CUSA) this season following a win over FIU last Saturday.
On Teagan Moore: “I think there’s a chance for Saturday night.”
Redshirt sophomore Teagan Moore has missed the last five games for the Hilltoppers after suffering “concussion-like symptoms” in the loss against Liberty on Jan. 21. WKU is 2-3 in games without Moore.
Plona mentioned that Moore has been doing workouts with the team, and there is a chance he may be ready to suit up for the Hilltoppers on Saturday.
On Louie Semona: “I won’t make a decision if we continue to have healthy bodies.”
Junior forward Louie Semona started the season for the Hilltoppers, but went down with a knee injury against Tulsa on Dec. 19. Semona has been rehabbing for a potential return, but has yet to be ruled out for the rest of the season.
Plona alluded to a chance for Semona to return to the court if injuries continue to pile up for the Hilltoppers, but he doesn’t want to aggravate an injury and damage Semona’s chances to play for his senior season.
On Noah Boyde: “We are going to have a discussion today (Monday).”
Senior forward Noah Boyde started the season playing around 15 minutes off the bench for the Hilltoppers before being sidelined with an undisclosed injury following a game against Sam Houston on Jan. 24.
The extent of the injury has not been mentioned by the coaching staff, with the possibility of outside circumstances playing a factor in the absence of Boyde in the lineup.
In his presser, Plona mentioned that he and Boyde will have a meeting to figure out what the rest of the season looks like, and if the senior will return to the floor at any time this season.
The Hilltoppers will prepare for Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. CT.
