WKU Women’s Basketball looks to snap its eight-game losing streak with a win against Jacksonville State at Diddle Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Toppers most recently fell to Kennesaw State 55-51 in their annual “Education Day.” WKU led by four points entering the fourth quarter, but the Owls shot much more effectively, shooting 61.5%.
Forward Torri James finished with a team-high 12 points against the Owls, her highest scoring performance in over a month. Sophomore guard Trinity Rowe and senior forward Zsofia Telegdy followed closely behind with 11 apiece.
The loss dropped WKU to 5-18 overall and 1-11 in Conference USA, in last place in the conference. If the Lady Toppers continue down this road, they risk not qualifying for the 2026 CUSA tournament.
Jacksonville State (12-12, 6-6 CUSA) is tied with Liberty for sixth place in CUSA after a 57-48 loss at Middle Tennessee State.
The Gamecocks’ defense might be a problem for the Lady Toppers’ offense. JSU’s second-ranked defense in CUSA limits its opponents to just 58.4 points per game. WKU’s last-ranked offense in CUSA puts up only 57.1 points per game.
Senior forward Mya Barnes leads JSU in points (11.2) and rebounds (8.2), with these stats ranking 18th and 7th in CUSA, respectively.
WKU has only fallen to JSU once, which was during the Lady Toppers’ conference-opener this season. They have defeated the Gamecocks in all four of the other contests.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. in Diddle Arena.
