WKU Softball kicks off its 2026 home schedule Feb. 20-22, hosting the Hilltopper Classic.
The Hilltoppers return home after splitting last weekend’s competition at the Mercer University Softball Invitational, during which WKU recorded a .346 batting average and 26 RBIs. The Hilltoppers are now 6-3 overall.
The WKU pitching staff built on its momentum from the season-opening weekend. Last week, sophomore right-hander Erica Houge was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, and senior right-hander Maddy Wood earned the same title this week. WKU Softball had not earned back-to-back conference pitchers of the week in over 10 years.
Wood’s stellar performance at the MUSB Invitational secured her the title. Through 10.2 innings, she posted a 1.97 ERA while striking out 10 and allowing only six hits. WKU’s pitching staff leads CUSA with a 2.23 team ERA.
Also at the MUSB Invitational, junior infielder Maci Masters did what she does best: hitting the ball out of the park. On Saturday, she hit a grand slam in the first inning of both games. She finished the weekend hitting .357.
The Hilltoppers will face Butler and Western Michigan on Friday, Detroit Mercy and Western Michigan Saturday and Butler to cap off the weekend on Sunday.
