A 20-point burst from sophomore guard Salma Khedr powered WKU Women’s Basketball to a 70-65 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday afternoon at Diddle Arena.
The performance marked the most points Khedr has scored in a conference game this season. Sophomore guard Trinity Rowe had her best game of the season, totaling 18 points and six assists.
Sophomore forward Torri James scored 10 points to complement the Lady Toppers second straight win. The performance also marked the most points in a conference game this season.
The Lady Topper defense brought their A-game, holding the Blue Raiders to 25% shooting in the first half, fueling their hot start.
The Lady Toppers started strong for the second straight game, leading 30-19 at halftime. Rowe dominated with 15 points on an absurd 83% shooting.
WKU kept the momentum going, leading by 17 going into the fourth quarter. The Blue Raiders fought back, closing the gap to just three points before Khedr scored four straight at the free-throw line to extend the lead.
The Lady Toppers bring their two-game win streak to Newark against Delaware on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
