WKU Women’s Basketball looks to extend its two-game winning streak as they head to Newark to take on the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens Thursday night.
The Lady Toppers snapped an eight-game losing streak with their 56-41 win over Jacksonville State in Diddle Arena Feb. 14. They carried that momentum into the next week, defeating conference-rival Middle Tennessee 70-65 at home last Saturday afternoon.
The wins improved WKU to 7-18 overall and 3-11 in Conference USA, but the Lady Toppers still sit in last place in conference standings.
WKU’s offense looked unrecognizable against MTSU. The Lady Toppers amassed 70 points against the Lady Raiders, well above their conference-average 57.6 points per game.
Sophomore forward Salma Khedr and sophomore point guard Trinity Rowe led WKU’s offense against MTSU. Khedr posted a team-high 20 points and Rowe scored a season-high 18 points. Khedr leads WKU in points per game (10.3) and Rowe leads CUSA in assists per game (4.8).
Delaware ranks eighth in CUSA following an 83-57 loss at Missouri State Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hens are 12-15 overall and 6-9 in conference.
Delaware is led by junior center Ande’a Cherisier, who ranks 13th in scoring (12.7 points per game) and 10th in rebounding (7.5 boards per game) in CUSA.
WKU faced Delaware for the first time in program history earlier this season, falling 66-55 at Diddle Arena.
Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. Thursday night. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
