WKU Men’s Basketball will play in Diddle Arena for the last time this season as they take on the UTEP Miners Saturday afternoon for senior day.
“Being a Hilltopper means a lot to these guys. We have nine seniors that are walking, it means the world to them to have Diddle be full, ” Head Coach Hank Plona said.
The Hilltoppers are on fire in February, on a five-game win streak. WKU comes off a dominating 93-70 win over New Mexico State Thursday night. In the last two games, the Hilltoppers have outscored opponents by 20 points.
It is a balanced offense for WKU this season, with four players averaging double digits and seven players averaging five or more points.
Redshirt sophomore guard Teagan Moore has been dominant since returning to the court against MTSU on Feb.14. Moore is averaging 24 points per game, powering the Hilltoppers to their impressive win streak.
UTEP looks to get back in the win column, coming off a 77-67 loss to MTSU on Thursday, extending their losing streak to three games. The Miners currently sit tied for 10th in the Conference USA standings with a 10-18 overall record and 6-11 in the conference.
The Miners are led by junior forward Elijah Jones, who averages 14.2 points per game. Jones has scored 10 or more points in 24 games this season.
WKU and UTEP met earlier this season down in El Paso, where the Hilltoppers came out with the win 68-56.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
“I don’t know what students will be doing at two o’clock other than coming over to watch the Hilltoppers play their last (home) game of the year,” Plona said.
